THE FREE SPIRIT

This is the story-in-pictures of THE FREE SPIRIT. She is my pride and joy. I had not ridden in years, when a friend of mine called and asked if I would be interested in a motorcycle that had been in her garage for awhile and wasn't getting any road time.I knew the bike and had always thought there was a lot of potential there.

She told me she had the title and the tale of how she came to own it. When she offered to sign it over to me just for getting it out of her way... I said "no thanks".... YEAH... RIGHT.... actually I said something more along the line of... "when can I come get it?!?!?

So that's the story... I hope you enjoy cruising through these photos as much as I enjoyed getting her looking this way and taking them...

Wow... a FREE motorcycle... it's a long story

A mostly stock 2003 Honda Shadow Spirit 750

(AKA SS750)

Previous owner had put on Cobra drag pipes

He also had a somewhat "different" eye when it came to paint

A little conceptualization with photoshop... I'm no artist

She actually looks pretty decent stock... if you like stock

The previous owner had also switched out the air cleaner

And the modifications began. First was a solo saddle. and the loss of the backrest.

The first round also brought Kuryakyn ISO grips, Kuryakyn ISO pegs (front only)

Then there were the Kuryakyn large oval mirrors with long stems

Things were starting to shape up nicely

A better view of the pegs... these were "switchblade" pegs that had a swing-out stirrup arm

Added a tool bag up front

Also flipped the risers back around to the stock position

Now that's more like it

By this point theres also the eagle fender ornament... yeah... it's Kuryakyn like everything else

She's almost there... by this time I had really settled on the theme... THE FREE SPIRIT... after all the bike was a gift, and it's a Shadow Spirit...

The paint decision was made and THE FREE SPIRIT was born

This is one of my favorite views at of her at this stage

Notice the absence of the lunch box that Honda called a taillight

That eagle's lookin really happy now

By this time we've switched out the drag bar for a of low buckhorn style and some shorty SS100 risers

Gives her more of a eagle-in-flight look from this angle

Took the pad off of the backrest adn brought it back as a sissy bar... with the addition of a bit of Hardley chrome

Another bit of chrome... you can never have enough

I've also added on silver bullet turn signals all around.. not to mention some really slick LED turn signals inside the Billski taillight

No bike is quite right until some has given you a gremlin bell for it... THANKS JROD
